| Congratulations to the league champion Pearland Pandas, and the East division champion Saratoga Highlanders! Condolences to the relegating teams. There but for the grace of God go I. |

| Wow, that's a great find, Wuggla! There are several teams who were in the league back then who will be here again this season. | |||
| #96578 | Forum >> Discussions >> Who was your meh FA/Waiver pickup that turned into a stud? | amalric7 | 10/09/2026 4:10:27 am |
| Thread necromancy! I knew there was something like this out there, and wanted to bring it back for this guy:- Le Zhao, my first Chinese player, and a FA pickup this preseason (2075) in the usual desperate rummage for pitching help of any sort. Safe to say I was not expecting that! Most remarkable of all, I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher throw 80 innnings over 86 appearances and not give up a single home run. Obviously his Asian and minor league numbers reflect a low-HR tendency (and excellent stats in general), but he's taken it to another level, especially in our bandbox. Of course, now I've mentioned this he's sure to get absolutely shelled in LLIV next season! |

| More thread necromancy! Looking back at this six years on:- C: Bourne. Okay, this is a bit of a cheat, given he played his last eight seasons (bar one game) exclusively at DH. But he did play C for 331 games and holds a 26.1 CS%. I stopped playing him at C to avoid the incessant injuries at the position, getting my best bat and best player in the lineup as much as I could. 1B: Soto. Holdover #1. One of three 20-Hit guys I've had (Crespo, Meyer) but definitely the best, and did his best work at the very top in Legends. 2B: Jones. Current player. Alonso (14th in franchise career games played) and the chronically-underused until halfway through his age-31 season Jelly deserve a mention. 3B: Ortiz. Holdover #2. A career .359 RISP is insane. Reece might earn a place at C or 3B or as a backup by the time he's done. SS: Gann. Holdover #3. We've had some great fielding shortstops (Lezcano, Barron) but for all-round game there's no touching Prime Time. LF: Leon. Edges Burkhart on offensive numbers, though the latter played a better LF. CF: Di Carlo. Holdover #4. This one isn't even remotely close. RF: Huerta. Holdover #5. A narrow call over Morrison. Huerta gets the edge because most of his damage came in Legends. This one still hurts - at age 31 his average/OBP dropped to .232/.282 for consecutive seasons and even though his power was still there I cut him. He hit .271 with 72 HR in the three seasons that followed. Ouch. DH: Tan. Holdover #6. Impossible to look at everything there and not drool. Best waiver claim. Never did pitching but if we had mine would essentially be the same - had one or two guys (tops) become reliable starters, and a bunch of bullpen arms, but basically I've spent six years (25 BB seasons!!) looking for guys to replace franchise icons Rock and Mejia, and haven't come close. | Might get some notice for RPotY. He did! Our first major player award since 2067. Thanks everyone. An enjoyable season. (Any season where the team bats .289 with RISP is going to be enjoyable). Best wishes in 2076. |

| Good series Colorado, and congrats on stealing promotion on the last second! I was surprised my pitching held up in the series despite no Pitt. Matsumoto and Cruz had career years out the pen. Hopefully the staff can do more of that in III |

| Well the new season is already bringing dividends for New York - McGraw and Burleson both popped on POT (to 15 and 14 respectively). This is new to me, because something like 99% of POT changes on my team this time of year have been negative! |

| Well, I finally did it. I've seen it happen to other owners in the past, but for the first time I got rid of the wrong personnel. In my case, it was a coach. I lost my pitching coach to age this season, and the replacement hired by the CPU was of course completely useless. I found an adequate interim coach, and went to hire him. . . except I had somehow selected to replace my hitting coach instead. Congratulations to Egg Arbor, you found a good one. The result is that I lost my good pitching coach and my good hitting coach in one season, and I have to go through the process of replacing both. I'm honestly thinking about rage-quitting the game over this. I've been playing for a long time, and nothing lasts forever. My team is in a rough place, and maybe this is just a good opportunity to step away. |
