Jul 23 2073: Mexico academy - by TH3RMOant on April 10th, 2026
The Kent Polar Bears organization today announced a major step forward in its international development strategy with the establishment of a new player academy in Mexico City, Mexico, signaling a long-term commitment to identifying and developing elite Mexican talent.
The initiative reflects the vision of the club’s ownership, with a clear goal: to make the Polar Bears the premier destination for Mexican players aspiring to compete at the highest level, including representing their country on the World Baseball Classic stage.
“This is about building something bigger than just a roster,” the organization stated. “We want to create a pathway — a place where Mexican players know they can develop, compete, and reach the global stage.”
The system is already beginning to reflect that vision, with several standout prospects emerging:
Omar “VLAD” Montalvo, a 19-year-old third baseman from Mérida, Mexico, stands at 6’1” and is currently developing in Rookie Ball after a brief stint in Single-A. Ranked as the 15th-best prospect in the organization, Montalvo remains a high-upside player the club believes could take a major step forward.
Bruno Morales, a 17-year-old out of Veracruz, Mexico, and the club’s first-round pick in the 2073 draft, has impressed early in Rookie Ball. Morales is currently hitting .294 with a .326 OBP, .371 slugging percentage, and a .697 OPS, drawing internal discussions about a potential promotion to Single-A — or higher — next season. He is ranked as the 7th-best prospect in the system.
Carmelo Galvez, a 16-year-old outfielder from Mexico City, Mexico, represents one of the first direct products of the new academy pipeline. Standing 5’11”, Galvez is already ranked as the 4th-best prospect in the organization, highlighting the immediate impact of the club’s expanded scouting presence.
Leading the group is Felix “El Toro” Ortega, the organization’s top-ranked prospect. The 18-year-old outfielder from Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico, stands 6’1” and is currently playing for the Double-A affiliate, the Estherwood Tortugas, following a recent promotion. Ortega owns a .277 batting average, .316 OBP, .378 slugging percentage, and a .694 OPS in his minor league career and is ranked #69 among the Top 100 global prospects. Many within the organization — and across the fanbase — are eagerly anticipating his Major League debut.
With a growing pipeline of talent and a dedicated presence in Mexico, the Polar Bears are positioning themselves at the forefront of international development.
“This is just the beginning,” the organization added. “We’re building a future that reflects both our identity and our ambition.”
The Kent Polar Bears look forward to continuing their investment in Mexican baseball and the next generation of stars rising through their system.

Stoner continues to be a steady force in the lineup, posting a .282 batting average, .336 on-base percentage, .391 slugging percentage, and a .727 OPS during the 2073 campaign.

Sep 08 2072: Prospect call up - by TH3RMOant on February 4th, 2026
The organization announced the call-up of 21-year-old switch-hitting catcher Edgar Kelsey, a native of San Marino, California, following a minor injury to starting left-handed catcher Theo Christensen, who is expected to miss approximately two days due to back spasms.
Kelsey, a second-round selection in the 2066 draft, made his Major League debut in Sunday’s matchup against the Independence Cavaliers, a game that ended in an 8–6 loss. Despite the result, Kelsey delivered an encouraging first impression, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, showcasing poise and competitiveness in his first taste of big-league action.
Prior to the call-up, Kelsey had been playing at the Triple-A level, where his season numbers included a .230 batting average, .300 on-base percentage, .335 slugging percentage, and a .636 OPS. While his Triple-A career has not unfolded exactly as anticipated, the decision to bring him up reflects the organization’s belief in his work ethic, defensive reliability, and long-term potential behind the plate.
“This opportunity is something Edgar has earned,” the club said. “We believe in his ability, and this call-up is a sign of trust in his preparation and growth.”
Kelsey is expected to handle catching duties during Christensen’s brief absence, with the organization viewing this stint as an important developmental step in his progression.
