Milwaukee Welcomes the Wolves: Provo Franchise Relocates Ahead of New Era

Professional baseball is returning to Milwaukee with a new identity, a new home, and a fresh ambition.

League officials confirmed yesterday that the former Provo Pioneers franchise has officially relocated to Wisconsin and will now compete as the Milwaukee Wolves, beginning this season in Division V play.

The club will play its home games at the newly completed indoor venue, Vicente Espinoza’s Garden, a modern stadium designed to shield fans and players alike from the unpredictable Midwest spring weather. Team executives described the move as “a long-term investment in Wisconsin baseball culture.”

“This city deserves a hard-working club that reflects its character,” owner representatives said during the unveiling ceremony Friday morning. “The Wolves are built for Milwaukee.”

The relocation also brings a complete reorganization of the franchise’s developmental system across the Midwest:
  • AAA: Oconomowoc Octopuses (WI)
  • AA: Carbon Hill Cannoneers (IL)
  • A: Hokah Hippos (MN)
  • Rookie: Alburnett Aliens (IA)

Fans will get their first look at the Wolves on March 23, when Milwaukee opens the season against the Copley Indians in the inaugural game at Vicente Espinoza’s Garden.

Early merchandise sales have reportedly exceeded expectations, with the club’s rust-colored branding already becoming a popular sight across downtown Milwaukee.

For a city that has always embraced tough, blue-collar baseball, the Wolves may already feel right at home.

Mar 14 2074: Pioneers Ready for Division 5 Challenge - by AdTheMoneyBall on May 22nd, 2026

The offseason has brought major changes for the Provo Pioneers following their promotion to Division 5 after a 94-win season and a playoff title.

The front office focused heavily on experience, adding pitchers Enrique Campaneris and Edgar Ordoñez to strengthen the staff, while veteran first baseman Scotty Staples arrives from Division 2 to add leadership and power to the lineup. The club also selected young pitcher Hector Sakei in the college draft, viewed internally as a long-term project with significant upside.

Several roster spots were cleared during the winter, including the departures of Francisco Cepeda, Lorenzo Otero, Chad Agostini, Rodolfo Izquierdo, and Ken Shepard.

The coaching staff also saw important changes. D.J. Summers was hired as Third Base Coach from Stanton University, while Luis Trujillo joins from San Diego State as First Base Coach. Dave Painter and Corey Dwyer were both released.

With the regular season opening next week, the message from the organization is clear: the Pioneers are not satisfied with promotion alone. They intend to compete immediately in Division 5.

The Provo Pioneers capped off a historic 2073 season by winning the VI.8 championship and earning promotion to League Level 5 after a thrilling 4-3 playoff series victory.

Managed by Murphy, the Pioneers finished first with a 94-66 record and a dominant +212 run differential. The club also featured six All-League players: Ageda, Cruz, Cox, Chavez, Laird, and Colwell.

“We believed from day one that this team could do something special,” said Murphy after the title-clinching win. “Now we’ve got the trophy, and we’re ready for the next level.”

Jul 21 2069: PRESS RELEASE – STAFF CHANGES - by AdTheMoneyBall on June 6th, 2025

PRESS RELEASE – STAFF CHANGES
July 21, 2069 – With a record of 31 wins and 54 losses, the team is entering a new phase.

• Cristian Arcia relieved of managerial duties
• Alvaro Baez released from coaching staff
• Nicholas Lindberg hired as manager
• Efrain Ramirez hired as coach

We thank those departing and welcome the new leadership as we move forward with a young and dynamic core of coaching staff.

"Nicholas really impressed us with his work at University of Cincinnati Athletics, particularly in how he managed both the offense and pitching staff. We believe he brings a modern, balanced approach"

said the team’s front office.

"Efrain joins us from the development staff of the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, where his methods for improving young hitters have stood out. His energy and player-first mentality are exactly what we need right now."

It remains to be seen whether these changes will bring immediate results on the field. But one thing is clear: with two young coaches at the helm, the Pioneers are signaling a long-term vision for the future.
